Joe Biden has called for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign after a report detailed accusations of sexual harassments against him. The Hill. Biden had mentioned in March that he thought Cuomo should resign if an investigation validated the sexual harassment claims against him, and todays report did just that. The report found that Cuomo had created a hostile work environment for his female employees that involved inappropriate comments and unwanted touching. There were no criminal referrals in the case. Cuomo said in a prerecorded statement that he is just an affectionate person and meant no disrespect.
My Comment:
First of all, the utter hypocrisy of Joe Biden condemning anyone for sexual harassment. We have him on video touching all kinds of women and kids and clearly making them uncomfortable, not to mention the credible rape accusations against him from Tara Reade. It is clearly a case of the pot calling the kettle black and the only difference is that the media is still willing to cover for Biden and they are not willing to do so for Cuomo anymore.
That's an interesting question as well. Cuomo went from the media's golden boy to whatever he is now in the blink of an eye. I had thought it might have been because he was going to get charged by the government for his nursing home scandal that lead to the death of many of New York's most vulnerable seniors to the Coronavirus, but that appears to not be the case after the government punted on charges.
Whatever the reason though, it appears that Cuomo's career is done. Biden may be a senile old fool, but he is in charge of the Democratic Party and his words have power. Others are joining the call for Cuomo to resign and the New York State legislators are signaling they are willing to impeach Cuomo over this.
I think that Cuomo is pretty clearly guilty of sexual harassment. He was touching these women without their consent and was making constant sexual comments to them. Coincidently enough I actually just had my mandatory sexual harassment policy training at work and by their standards I am sure that Cuomo would have had the book thrown at him. I know that if I was doing what Cuomo was doing at my job I would be fired. I think it's fair that he gets fired from being governor in that respect.
Still, it looks like Cuomo is willing to fight this. I don't really think he will win but he could certainly make the Democrats lives miserable in the meantime. Taking him down will have a major political cost for the Democrats in New York and, since Cuomo is such a major figure, nationally. Cuomo seems to be willing to make them pay that cost...
