Is Ukraine ungrateful for western aid?

Polish Prime Minster Marcin Przydacz, Politico/AFP.

Ukraine has summoned the Polish ambassador over comments made by Marcin Przydacz, the Polish secretary of state who criticized Ukraine for not being grateful for western aid. Politico. Przydacz made the comments during a discussion about banning Ukrainian grain exports, which are cheaper than Poland's own grain exports, which Ukraine was angry about. Przydacz said that Ukraine should start being appreciative for the role Poland has played in supplying Ukraine. Ukraine criticized the comments with Zelenskyy making a sarcastic comment that he would wake up every day and thank Przydacz. Zelenskyy's comment was criticized by the Ukrainian ambassador to the United Kingdom for not being helpful and was fired for speaking out.

My Comment:

I do think that Przydacz has a point, Ukraine is not anywhere near as grateful for western support as it should be. Indeed, Western support is the only reason why Ukraine was able to survive this long in the first place. We provided them with their first army and then rebuilt that army when it was destroyed. And we did it again when the 2nd army was destroyed. And now? They are begging for a fourth army and I don't think they are going to get it.

Ukraine has also come off as extremely ungrateful. Whenever the United States gives them a blank check they immediately start begging for something else. When we gave them Bradley's and Leopards, they begged for M1 Abrams. When agreed to give them the Abrams they begged for F-16's. And if they ever get the F-16's (which I still doubt will happen) they will be begging for F-35's and F-22's, assuming they don't just beg for nuclear weapons.

As someone who has seen his tax dollars go to Ukraine instead of his fellow Americans it feels like a slap in the face. It's like giving a dollar to a bum and him immediately saying he wants another dollar. Americans are getting nothing from this war, it would be different if they sent me a pretty Ukrainian wife, but somehow I don't see that happening.

I understand why they are doing it, Ukraine is losing the war. Russia has done massive damage to their military and every day we see new reports of Ukrainian units getting mauled in their offensive. Their reserves have been deployed now as well and it's not going well. They know that if they are going to continue the war they are going to need billions of dollars more in aid and weapons.

Still, it reflects very poorly on Zelenskyy that he couldn't even respond to Przydacz without being sarcastic about it. And when his ambassador pointed out he was going to cause even further resentment? He fired him and then read the riot act to Poland's ambassador. It's an absolute farce. You would think he would just laugh it off or have a private interaction with Poland's government, not turn the thing into an international incident.
