Violence and disorder erupts in downtown Chicago...

Hundreds of teens swarming downtown Chicago. Fox News.

Violence and disorder erupted in downtown Chicago as hundreds of teens smashed cars, blocked traffic and fought in the streets. Fox News. Two male teens, aged 16 and 17, were shot in the chaos. Both are in fair condition. Mayor elect Brandon Johnson condemned the violence but also defended the teens saying they had been denied opportunities. Johnson, a far left progressive, won against moderate Democrat Paul Vallas who ran on a law and order platform. Nine adults and six juveniles were arrested in the violence, which was advertised on social media as a flash mob.

My Comment:

People tend to get the government they deserve and that is certainly the case in Chicago. After making a terrible mistake in electing Lori Lightfoot they went and picked someone who won't reverse her awful policies but will instead double down on. To be fair, Brandon Johnson, is not in power yet, but I have little faith in his ability to get crime in Chicago under control.

This incident just shows how much disorder there is in American cities. People were smashing cars, wreaking stuff and then trying to fight and kill each other, just because they didn't have anything else to do. It's a miracle that nobody died.

Some people have been making excuses, saying that these kids have been denied opportunities or that it's expected because of the unseasonably warm temps. But that's just making excuses. These people wanted to commit crimes and that's it. I have no idea why people want to give these people a pass.

This was a flash mob, which is hard, but not impossible, to defend against. You really need people on social media following these flash mobs so when they show up police are there in force. Of course then you also have to be willing to crack skulls and throw these people in jail. But Chicago police are not able to do that because of pressure from the Democrat led city. Not that they have the resources to do so anyways, the police there can't handle the hundreds of murders in the city, let alone crimes like this.

Is it any wonder why businesses are pulling out of Chicago? Walmart is closing stores because they have never been profitable in the entire time they are open due to the massive amounts of shoplifting. This is happening in other major cities with far-left governments, most notably Portland Oregon. And then the governments of these cities have the audacity to complain about these stores closing!

The problem is that this lax attitude towards crime doesn't just affect the cities, it affects the entire region. Illinois itself is ruined because of Chicago, the rest of the state is mostly nice but Chicago rules them all. And it affects every state around Illinois. I live in Wisconsin and I know that many of these people end up leaving Chicago and end up acting like they do down there and quickly realize that we actually arrest people up here.
