A former Colorado transgender student was foiled in an attempt to commit a school shooting. KRDO. 19 year old William Whitworth, who is a male to female transgender and goes by "Lilly" was arrested for attempted murder and various other crimes. Whitworth was arrested after getting drunk and being reported to the police by a family member. When confronted by police Whitworth confirmed plans to shoot up Timberview Middle School in addition to other targets including churches. Police found a manifesto, bomb making material and floor plans of the school. In the manifesto Whitworth ranted about school shooters, serial killers, celebrities and politicians.
My Comment:
I was expecting another transgender shooter eventually, but I hadn't expected it to be so soon. Fortunately, this attack was still in the planning stage and hadn't gone beyond planning and a frankly pathetic attempt to make a bomb. Whitworth was incompetent and the whole plot was blown up because he got drunk and belligerent and his family turned him in.
This attack appears to have been at least partially politically motivated. Given the secondary targets were churches and the rants against conservative political figures like Donald Trump and Lauren Southern it seems like this person had an issue against right wingers.
That being said, it appears Whitworth also was obsessed with school shooters and serial killers. It's possible that his obsession was a primary motivation as well. That obsession was certainly not healthy and it's bizarre that anyone would want to emulate school shooters.
It's unclear which motivation was the primary one. It's also unclear how long this plot was in motion for. It's possible it predates the Nashville shooting committed by another transgender person and is most likely a terror attack done in the name of transgenderism. I don't think this was a plot that jut happened to be plotted by a transgender person but I also don't know if it was specifically in the name of transgenderism.
Whitworth seems like an utter loser. Regardless of the transgender status of the shooter, it seems like he was a major failure at everything. Instead of going out and buying a gun he tried to google how to print out firearms. Presumably he could have simply purchased one instead. Of course he didn't seem like a very smart person considering his whole plot was exposed because he got drunk and ripped a door down and punched holes into his homes wall.
Though Whitworth appears to have been incompetent, his brother or sister (the news report just calls them a "reporting person) did the right thing by turning him in. They probably didn't want to send Whitworth to prison but what choice did they have? When someone is threatening to shoot up a school you have to act and I am very glad that they did in this case.
