A federal judge has appointed a special master to review Trump raid documents and has revealed that Donald Trump's medical and financial records were seized in the raid. Fox News. A special master is an independent attorney that is used to determine if documents are protected by attorney-client privilege. Donald Trump has long argued that many of his records taken in the raid were covered by attorney-client and executive privilege. 40 years of Donald Trump's medical records were taken as well along with Trump's passports, which were eventually returned, and various economic records. The appointment of a special master is seen as a major victory for Trump as the FBI has been ordered to halt their review of documents until the special master reviews the documents. Given the number of documents seized the issue will likely be dropped until after the midterms.

My Comment:
The investigation against President Donald Trump is falling apart. It's very clear from this judge's ruling that they FBI greatly exceeded their mandate to search Trump's documents and took a bunch of stuff they had no right to, including medical and financial records that had nothing to do with the supposed secrecy issue. They also admit that as many as 500 documents may have been covered under attorney-client privilege.
This is the kind of thing that can destroy a case before it starts. The FBI clearly overstepped their bounds here and this judge punished them for it. Clearly many of the records they took had nothing to do with the supposedly secret documents issue. If the special master finds that some or all of the documents were covered by various forms of privilege then the case won't be able to use them.
Of course the case is ridiculous to begin with, as President, Donald Trump had full authority to declassify information at any time he wanted. He didn't even have to declare it, as President he had final authority on the matter. The FBI knows this, the White House knows this and the press knows this, but none of them care, they just wanted a fishing expedition.
Given that nothing appears to have leaked from these documents I am guessing that, once again, it has been proven that Donald Trump is clean. If there was anything incriminating whatsoever found in Trump's medical and economic records you would have read about in the Washington Post, assuming you could stomach reading that rag.
The biggest effect from this is that it will probably delay any further investigation into Donald Trump until after the 2022 midterms. This is a huge win for Trump as it will distance himself from the election and make it more about how terrible Biden is doing.
But the real problem for the FBI is that right now Donald Trump is not a candidate in the 2022 election. Due to election laws pertaining to the midterms, Trump has not declared yet, but is expected to do so after the midterms. If that is the case than the FBI can not credibly say they aren't interfering with the election as then they would be investigating the GOP frontrunner.
I do not expect the Biden administration to take this sitting down though. They will likely appeal this and I wouldn't be surprised if it makes it to the Supreme Court. That could take years though so I am guessing they will come up with some other asinine plan to "get Trump". I mean, nothing else has worked but I am sure it will this time!
