Joe Biden's approval rating has continued to fall, reaching his lowest point ever in a CNBC poll. CNBC. Only 38% of people in the survey support Biden's presidency. Economic pessimism is also very high with 47% of people saying the economy is poor. This is the forth survey in a row where Biden's approval rating has dropped. Biden's approval has dipped in many different issues, but inflation is a huge driver of the fall in rating. Survey takers cited inflation as the biggest issue facing the country with 48% saying it was the biggest issue or the 2nd biggest issue, with other issues like Ukraine, Immigration and the Coronavirus not coming close.
My Comment:
This was not the only bad poll for Biden. A Reuters poll found him at 41%, which is bad for that poll and Quinnipiac found him at 33% . With the three polls I am guessing that a little over 1/3rd of people still approve of Joe Biden's job performance.
My question is what are those people thinking? Is it just pure partisan, my side is always right? Is it residual hatred for Donald Trump? Are they just that cut off from the world that they have no idea what is going on?
I think it's different than it was under Donald Trump. Trump had flaws and was never free from controversy. But his supporters could point to things that he was doing that they liked. For example, Trump had mean tweets but he did seem to solve immigration, helped the economy and fought against the media, all things that his supporters could cite as why they still supported him.
What do the Democrats and other Biden supporters have to point to? Even ignoring Biden's failures, he has not delivered on his promises. He hasn't forgiven student debt, he hasn't gone after Donald Trump, he hasn't even increased the minimum wage. What has he done for the people that voted for him? As far as I can see he hasn't done a thing.
I don't even think that the media is covering for him anymore. They have been fairly critical about his failures to handle inflation, as the above links show. Indeed, I think the media is getting ready to cut Biden loose. I don't know if they want Kamala Harris in the Oval Office, or if they are trying to salvage something out of the 2022 elections, but the fact remains that they aren't covering for him as much.
For me personally, I don't think Biden ever had a chance to win me over. I don't think he won the election legitimately and even if he had, he had the taint of the Obama administration on him. But even I have been surprised that Biden has faceplanted as hard as he has. I can't think of a single issue or crisis he had handled competently. I can't think of an issue he hasn't made worse. It is baffling to me that anyone supports him at all.
