Joe Biden has told Barack Obama that he actually intends to run in 2024...

Joe Biden has told former President Barack Obama that he actually intends to run in 2024. New York Post. Biden is 79 and if he were to serve for both terms he would be 86 by the time the 2nd term ended. Most people assumed that Biden was not telling the truth about running in 2024, thinking it a ploy to avoid accusations of being a "lame duck" president. Biden reportedly thinks that he is the only Democrat that has a chance to beat Donald Trump in 2024. Polling suggests that Biden would struggle against Trump and his approval rating has cratered since he took the White House. Biden has also said repeatedly that he would keep Kamala Harris as her VP.

My Comment:

It's important to note that the original report only relied on anonymous sources. There were two of them but still, they don't identify who the people are and how they came to got this information. I tend to believe this story as it matches what Biden has said publicly but I would be remiss not to mention that I always have a level of distrust for stories that rely on anonymous sources.

I do have to say that even ignoring every single political aspect of this I don't think Joe Biden has any business running for president in 2024. It's very clear that he is in no way healthy enough to remain president, let alone run in 2024. He has gone through a major mental decline just since he has taken office, let alone from his days as Vice President. To be clear, I don't think it's just his age that is a factor here, it's the fact that he is going senile and may not be able to function at all by the end of the year, let alone in 2024.

Politically speaking, I can't imagine that Biden actually runs. Biden's approval ratings are falling to the point where most people disapprove of him and Donald Trump was doing much better at his point of the presidency than Biden. Almost everyone is disgusted with him and do not agree with anything that he is doing.

The Democrats have to know this and I can't imagine that they are happy with Biden's job performance. Though he is just a puppet, he has made many huge gaffes and mistakes. His personality is abrasive and he has presided over an economic collapse.

I can't see Biden beating Donald Trump (or even Ron DeSantis). People will remember the years 2016-2019 and know that since then it has been terrible. Biden was in charge for much of that and people will likely want to go back. I don't think Biden legitimately beat Trump in the first place so the rematch will likely favor Trump.

If Biden does run there is going to be a primary challenge. And barring something incredible happening, I think he loses. The Democrats don't have much in the way of a bench, but even someone like Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, both of which have had failed presidential campaigns, would do better than Biden. I can't imagine people wanting to stay on the sinking ship that is Biden.

All of this assumes that Biden makes it to 2024. His health is declining quite quickly and there is a very good chance he doesn't make it to campaign season. And it's possible that the stress of a renewed campaign could kill him dead. And that's not even mentioning the fact that he might be totally senile by then.

There is also a decent chance that Biden gets impeached and removed. I don't think many, if any, Democrats would go along with that but it is possible that the Democrats get wiped out in 2022. If that happens then Biden could be removed from office, for any of a dozen or so valid reasons. He could also be removed via the 25th amendment, I think he qualifies given his obvious senility right now, let alone as his condition will decline...
