Suicide bombing in Iran kills two and wounds 42.

The aftermath of the car. AP/Tasnim news agency.

A suicide bombing in Iran has killed two police officers and wounding 42. AP. A Sunni Muslim jihadist group, Ansar al-Furqan, took credit for the attack, though Iran blamed outside forces. The terror group is a minor player in Iran and is active in Sistan and Baluchistan. Iran is rarely victim of terror attacks but has suffered some recently from Sunni terror groups, including ISIS. Iran is also reeling from US sanctions related to their nuclear program.

My Comment:
This attack was only notable because of the country that it occurred in. Iran rarely has terror attacks compared to most Middle East or Central Asian countries. Though there have been a few big attacks lately, they haven't suffered anywhere near the attacks that Iraq, Syria or even Turkey has had. Iran has many worries but usually terror attacks are not one of them.

I haven't heard of Ansar al-Furqan before. They appear to be a very minor terror group. Their Wikipedia page is a joke, with almost no information at all. All they had to their credit before this terror attack was an attack on a pipeline.

My guess is that this was an attack to get their name in their news. If so, it succeeded. Though the attack didn't have too many fatalities, they did manage to wound quite a few people. Presumably, the bomber died in the blast as well, but that doesn't really count, but two deaths is something as well.

As for Iran, this is not news they need right now. Their economy is in shambles, there regional enemies are united against them and they are being sanctioned by the Untied States. If this terror group starts to ramp up their attacks it could be a very serious problem for Iran.
