A 42 year old man was arrested in Canada after he rammed several protesters with his Jeep during the Freedom Convoy protests in Ottawa. Fox News. Three people were treated with minor injuries but the fourth had to go to the hospital. Police say the man rammed the protesters and then left the scene at a high rate of speed before resisting arrest after being caught by the police. The Freedom Convoy is a grassroots anti-mandate protest that has seen thousands of truckers and other Canadians take over Ottawa and shut down border crossings.

My Comment:
The video from this attack was pretty hard to find and there are only a few accounts on Twitter that seem to have it, none of them seem like they are the original uploaders. My guess is that Twitter is playing their suppression games yet again, I doubt they want anyone to have any sympathy for these protesters. Hopefully the video I linked too will stay up.
From the video it seems as though there was no reason for the driver to hit these people. Traffic was flowing and they weren't really blocking traffic. And nobody seemed to be attacking the jeep or anything like that, the driver just decided to accelerate out of nowhere, ramming a truck in front of them and running down a couple of people.
Given that the attacker ran away and then resisted arrest I am guessing this was a deliberate attack and not some kind of accident. My guess is that it was someone who is opposed to the Freedom Convoy and did this for political reasons. In short, it's probably a terrorist. I guess it could have been someone that was just tired of all the honking but I doubt that it was anything like that.
I have been amazed at how peaceful the convoy has been. Given the circumstances, I wouldn't have been upset if they had dragged Trudeau out of his hiding space and, well, I better not conclude that though. But there has been almost no violence and the first documented violence we have seen has been directed at the protesters.
As for the convoys themselves they do seem to be getting results. Quebec has dropped their insane plan to tax the unvaccinated and some other regions are lifting their restrictions. Trudeau hasn't budged so far but I can't see him lasting much longer. His government is collapsing and the protests are now spreading to other cities and even border crossings. The military has said they won't put down the protesters either so Trudeau's only options are to either cave to their demands or try and wait them out.
Trudeau did get a gift with what GoFundMe did. They decided to not distribute the more than $10 million the truckers raised for this protest over nonsense about it being violent (remember, the only violence I have seen was the video I posted above). They even said briefly that they were going to redistribute the money, but backed down on that when they realized how insanely illegal that was. They are now issuing refunds. (As an aside, I would mention that if you donated make sure you don't just go through the refund process, contact your credit card company and ask them to dispute the charges since GoFundMe didn't provide the service you paid for. Doing so will cost GoFundMe money and could even get them dropped by credit card companies if it happens enough).
I do think that this kind of protest is getting results and it's a shame that it hasn't been tried here. I think January 6th would have had a very different outcome of the people involved in it had just stayed there and brought a bunch of semi-trucks. Regardless of the final outcome with the Freedom Convoy I do expect we will see this kind of protest again.
Finally, keep in mind that the whole point of these protest is against the vaccine mandates and Coronavirus restrictions. As far as I am concerned, the pandemic ended as soon as the Omicron variant evolved. Since then the virus stopped being a threat to normal folks and is nothing more than a bad cold or a weak flu. Sure, some people are still dying from it, but people die from the flu all the time and we don't shut down the world for it. Given that much of the United States and Europe are either ending their mandates or have done so months ago (like here in Wisconsin), it's utterly insane that the Trudeau government is still trying to push vaccine mandates.
