Massive Hezbollah tunnel found between Lebanon and Israel.

A picture of the tunnel. Reuters.

The Israeli Army has discovered a massive tunnel between Lebanon and Israel created by Hezbollah. Reuters. The tunnel was almost a mile long and was 265 feet deep and crossed into Israel in the town of Zarit. The tunnel was discovered in an Army operation earlier in the year. Israel and Hezbollah have gone to war several times in the past and the terror group has the backing of Iran.

My Comment:
Just a quick post for this one. I don't usually comment on Israel due to people tending to lose their mind when mentioning the country, but I thought this story was pretty interesting, if for no other reason than the obvious skill on display here. Say what you want about Hezbollah, but this was a pretty impressive case of engineering. This tunnel had lighting, reinforcement and was dug very deep into the ground.

However, Israel was able to find and destroy the tunnel fairly easily. It wasn't really disguised in anyway and would have been pretty easy to discover for any observant person. With these tunnels destroyed Israel has managed to lessen the threat of being infiltrated by Hezbollah fighters.

I think some people in the United States will use this as a way to attack the border wall here. But I don't think it really works. For one thing this had to have been hugely expensive and dangerous. Hezbollah probably spent millions of dollars on this but now that investment has been destroyed. Plus, it took way more effort to build than the Israelis had to put in to find and destroy these tunnels. Tunnels can be built but that doesn't mean that they are a good counter to border walls.
