More impeachment talk from Republicans. Is it serious? -Yahoo/CSM

Mike Hukcabee via Wikipedia/Gage Skidmore

Mike Huckabee adds to the growing chorus of Republicans calling for the impeachment of Barack Obama. -Yahoo/CSM The former presidential candidate, Arkansas governor and possible 2016 presidential candidate did have a caveat though. He feels that Obama has clearly committed high crimes and misdemeanors and deserves removal but the votes in the Senate are just not there. Other republican political figures are calling for impeachment as well, including Sarah Palin and Representative Steven King, though most in the establishment are opposed.

My Comment;
Hukabee's thinking matches my own. Obama absolutely deserves to be impeached. He has done plenty to deserve being removed. Republicans are going with overreach of executive power as the reason, and it's a good enough one on its own, but I would add the IRS scandal, the harassment of journalists opposed to the government, the NSA scandal and so many other things as well. Obama's presidency has been corrupt, scandal ridden and generally out of control.

Having said all that, the time is not right for an impeachment. Democrats will defend Obama to the death, because they see an attack on him as an attack on all of them, even if he is corrupt and criminal. They will block any attempt at removal in the Senate as long as they have the votes. That is not going to change unless they lose the 2014 elections. All the impeachment would accomplish is to fire up the democratic base and hurt Republican chances in 2014 and 2016.
