U.S. spy plane violates Swedish airspace to avoid Russian fighter jets. -War Is Boring

RC-135 Rivet Joint. -Wikipedia

An Air Force RC-135 Rivet Joint signals intelligence spy plane violated Swedish airspace to avoid a confrontation with Russian Fighters. -War is Boring.  The plane was flying over the Baltic when Russian jets were deployed to confront it. The plane then fled and asked permission to cross Swedish airspace. The Swedes said no but the plane continued anyways.

My Comment:
Russian fighters being deployed to confront spy planes is not unusual. We do the same thing to them all the time. It's expected. But violating a third countries air space to flee? That is unusual. I wonder what these pilots were thinking? Maybe they had orders to avoid any confrontation? That might be a wise course of action considering how tense things are with Russia right now. It's all speculation at this point though.
