Gun sales spike around Ferguson Missouri after continued civil unrest. -RT

Protesters in Ferguson. RT/Reuters.

Gun stores near the city of Ferguson Missouri are reporting a surge in gun sales. -RT. The spike in sales follows several days of riots, looting and protests after the shooting of a black man. The police claim that Michael Brown was shot after trying to take a firearm from an officer but eyewitnesses claim that the man was shot after trying to surrender. Mississippi Governor Jay Nixon held a rally calling for peace and justice. Rabble rouser and civil rights advocate Al Sharpton rejected these calls and said "no justice, no peace".

My Comment:
Not surprised that people are buying guns near Ferguson. A major reason people buy guns is for this exact situation. The cops can't help people and the rioters and the looters don't care who they hurt. Hopefully nobody needs to, but the situation could lead to people needing to defend their lives and property. It reminds me a lot of the L.A. riots when Korean store owners used guns to defend themselves.

As for the case itself, I don't know what happened. Nobody knows what happened. There is no video and all we have to go on is eyewitness reports and the police report. That's what is known as "reasonable doubt". Unless there is some ballistic evidence that hasn't been analyzed or audio or video recordings of the incident, it's going to be very difficult to know what happened, let alone get a conviction. The people that are rioting and protesting don't have a clue what happened either and are jumping the gun, so to speak. I've got little sympathy for people who protest when they don't have the facts yet and I've got none for those who riot and loot under any circumstances.

That hasn't stopped the black "leaders" like Al Sharpton and other parasites of tragedy from weighing in. His "no justice, no peace" comments are particularly ill advised, and possibly illegal, in a situation where people are rioting and looting. Sharpton and other inciters need to act more like the Governor and call for peace not rioting. We have a system of justice in this country, and even though it is far from perfect, it is far better then vigilante justice, rioting and petty revenge for real and perceived injustice. Once again, nobody has been convicted of anything yet, it is very possible that the police version of the story is the right one.

By the way, I know that RT is a biased source but so is every single source in the west. The story seems to be pulled from more reliable western newspapers in the west so at the very least it's worth discussing.
