Two separate ambushes have targeted ICE recently.

The suspects in the Alvarado Texas ambush. Fox News/police handout.

Two separate violent ambushes have targeted ICE recently, with one officer being injured. Fox News. The first incident occurred at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado Texas. It involved a large and sophisticated attack targeting police and ICE agents. 15 rioters attacked the ICE facility, with a few members of the group vandalizing vehicles with spray paint. A local police officer showed up and was shot in the neck by one of the attackers. Another attacker fired 20 to 30 shots at unarmed ICE agents who had left the building. The attackers scattered but 10 were picked up by law enforcement and have been charged with attempted murder. A rifle, 10 sets of body armor, a "faraday bag" (which prevents cell phones from being tracked, and various far left propaganda was found with the suspects.

In a separate attack a man fired several rounds at another US Border Patrol facility, this time in McAllen Texas. The suspect, a 27 year old from Michigan, was shot and killed during the attack. It is unclear what the man's motive was.

My Comment:

This is a very disturbing development and a predictable result from the media hyperventilating about deportation operations. Though nobody was killed in either of these attacks expect for the shooter in McAllen, it was largely due to luck and poor marksmanship of the shooters. Had they been at all competent with their weapons, they could have killed quite a few people.

The McAllen attack seems like a typical lone wolf. It's unclear what motive he had but he was killed when he tried to shoot it out with the Border Patrol. I'm not super concerned by his attack, but I am guessing that he was inspired by the rhetoric we are seeing from the media.

The Alvarado attack though? That one is extremely concerning. This wasn't some lone wolf launching an attack on his own. This was a large criminal conspiracy of at least 15 people. They were well armed and armored and they had sophisticated tactics.

First they showed up and vandalized a large amount of property. They launched fireworks at the building and did not simply open fire until they had a target. And only when they saw a police officer show up and the ICE agents left the building, then they opened fire, maximizing their chances to kill someone. And they took steps to avoid detection afterwards, though they certainly didn't work.

This is a major step up in the kind of attacks we have seen. I am especially concerned about the fact that they used these tactics to draw out police. That's a step above most of these morons abilities so I am more than a little concerned that we could see similar copycat attacks. I also wonder who was funding these guys. Buying rifles, body armor and all the other things they got isn't cheap. I guess they could have pooled their money together but it does raise further questions.

I'd also point out that at least some of these people were transgender, which is yet another example of violence coming from that group of people. How significant that is isn't clear but I did want to point it out. I am not sure if they were motivated in particular by that, but it could be a factor.

I do expect more incidents like this, and it's very possible that copycat attacks could happen. And it is even possible that the McAllen attack was part of a greater conspiracy. The good news is that these folks were arrested and were charged with murder, even though not all of them fired at the officers. This shows that unlike the Black Lives Matter riots, folks that run cover for violent offenders will no longer have any cover themselves. They will be rightly charged right along with the shooters...
