Cornell University cancels classes after anti-Semitic threats

Cornell University cancels classes after anti-Semitic threats of violence was made against the University's Jewish students. AP. Patrick Dai, a 21 year old Junior at the school, was arrested after he made threats against the schools Jewish community on a Greek Life website. He said he was going to shoot up "104 west" which is the school's kosher dinning hall. Authorities tracked the threat via his IP address and arrested him afterwards. Despite his arrest, students were instructed to avoid the dining hall while police stepped up patrols of the area.

My Comment:
First of all, I'm assuming that Patrick Dai wasn't actually going to shoot up Cornell's dinning hall. This seemed like it was him just being an asshole, making threats he had no plans to actually do. With no news reports of him owning weapons or making solid plans I think this was just him making threats.

He also should have obviously expected to get arrested for this. The FBI may not care about people who make mass shooting threats, but colleges and local police absolutely do. They were, of course, going to look into this and since he didn't take any steps to protect his identity online. He was of course going to get arrested.

Was this an overreaction to cancel classes? Possibly. I don't think there was any real threat here in the first place but even if there was, Dai is in custody now. There isn't going to be a terror attack at Cornell tomorrow and I think that's pretty obvious.

Still, given the situation, I can understand wanting to cancel classes. People are going to be scared about this. Jews are already pretty upset about the Hamas attack and the positive reaction to it many people on college campuses have had to it. It's no wonder they want to take a day off from it.

I said yesterday that one of the types of attacks we could see is a rally getting out of control, but I guess I should have said more about what is going on our college campuses. Jews are really getting the worst of it and pro-Hamas people are running wild. It's amazing that none of these rallies haven't fallen into a riot or, even worse, a lynching. And given how radicalized many of these far-left and Muslim Hamas supporters are, I think it's only a matter of time before that happens.

What I don't understand is why? I can maybe understand not liking Jewish people, but that seems to be less of the reason. People actually do support Hamas and the people of Gaza, which I just cannot understand. Hamas is a terror group that essentially reached the same levels of depravity ISIS did during their peak. And the Palestinians? There is a reason why the Arab countries aren't taking them in, they have caused massive problems in the past.

Regardless of your opinion of both sides of the Hamas war, it is true that your average Jewish student has nothing to do with what happens in Israel. Even duel citizens have little control over what Israel does. And many Jews don't even like Israel, especially in America. Sending death threats to them is pretty pointless if you are upset about Israel, but I think a lot of it is just people hating Jews.

I find the whole thing bizzare
