Joe Biden and his staff are frustrated by failure and seething that they are getting lower approval ratings than Donald Trump did during his term. Politico. Biden has been unable to deal with many of the challenges facing his administration, including inflation, high gas prices, and various other domestic and foreign policy issues. Internally, Biden is furious that his approval ratings are so low and was enraged that he wasn't informed about the baby formula crisis. Biden himself wants to get out to the public despite the obvious security threat and the potential threat from an infection of coronavirus.
My Comment:
What got me with this post from Politico is how out of touch Biden is with what the American people want. I know it's a cliché but "it's the economy stupid" is such an obvious thing that I can't believe that Biden is focused on anything else at all. Not gun control. Not abortion. Not Russia. The Economy. That's it.
It does seem obvious that the people in Biden's White House understand that they have failed. But they don't seem to understand why. People in America are suffering due to high gas prices and their failure to deal with the most basic things, like ensuring babies have food.
I don't think Biden's plan to actually get out in the public will do anything good for him. He doesn't seem to realize that he can't go out in public anymore without facing large numbers of people protesting him. Everywhere he goes he gets large crowds of people screaming "let's go Brandon" and flipping off his car. People despise Biden and don't want to listen to what he has to say.
And I do think that the security and health concerns are very valid for Biden. People have tried to assassinate presidents for years now, even presidents that are dramatically more popular than Joe Biden is. Indeed, I think the only thing that is giving potential assassins pause is the idea that Kamala Harris is next in line.
And Biden's health is a major concern as well. Though the Coronavirus is mostly a joke now for healthy people, Biden is not healthy. An infection could very easily kill him dead. And Biden is ancient enough that even the exertion of touring around the country could kill him as well.
The other problem is that getting Biden out with the people greatly increases the chance of a major gaffe or mistake. Biden has already done said incredibly stupid things while he has been let off the leash and I doubt his staffers want to see something like that happen again.
At this point I don't think anything can save the Democrats at all. All their efforts to distract from the economy have largely failed or even worse, backfired for them. Roe v Wade is nothing but a bad memory and the gun control push has major problems as well. It will fail so the anti-gun Democrats will be angry but at the same time nothing gets Republicans to turn out to elections like a threat to the 2nd Amendment.
Again though, it's the economy. There is almost zero chance of the economy recovering with the types of policy decisions that the Democrats are making. Gas prices are out of control, and I have seen articles saying that gas could average as high as $6 a gallon by the end of Summer. That's a huge cost on its own and it's going to make everything else that travels by vehicle.
Biden also seems to manage to pick the exact opposite of what the people want. The Coronavirus pandemic is a good example of this. People were celebrating when the mask mandate on flights was overturned. A sane government would take the hint and simply let the issue fade into the background. But the Biden administration keeps pushing it and is actually contesting it in court. I don't know a single person that cares about the pandemic anymore, so why even bother?
Keep in mind that Biden's approval rating is worse than Trumps were but that is with biased polling. Biden is hovering between 30 and 40%, but I am guessing it is actually a lot lower than Trump was. Keep in mind that Trump got his approval rating despite constant negative media coverage, betrayals from inside the government and constant interference from the Democrats. Biden is getting about as soft of coverage as any president has ever gotten and he is still doing worse.
