Shooter that killed two people at the Oneida Casino before being shot and killed by police was a former employee.

The Onedia Casino's Radisson Hotel. ABC News/USA Today.

The man who shot and killed two people at the Radisson Hotel at Oneida Casino in Wisconsin before being shot and killed by police was a former employee who had been fired. ABC News. The shooter worked at the Duck Creek Kitchen and Bar but was fired in the past and was banned from the property. He returned and shot and killed two men at the waiter station. He left the restaurant and shot and injured a third employee and was soon after shot and killed himself by the police. No motive was released for the attack but the suspect was identified as a 62 year old man. The Oneida Casino is operated by the Oneida nation, a Native American tribe.

My Comment:
Though this is a fairly minor story in the big scheme of things, it is a local story for me as I live fairly close to this casino. I've never been there as far as I remember but it is a local hangout for people and the Radisson Hotel is fairly nice from what I have heard. The casino is one of the things the Green Bay area is famous for so this is a pretty big deal locally.

I am sad that this story got national attention though. The behavior of certain people online was utterly disgusting. I can't tell you how frustrating it was trying to get information about this attack on social media and only seeing despicable people like gun controller Shannon Watts trying to make political hay on this shooting before any facts were known. I do know people who gamble at the casino and it was extremely frustrating to try and get more information when there was garbage everywhere and little to no information.

Then there was crap like the above tweet. Completely full of misinformation and deeply racist, it was one of the top tweets when the incident was ongoing and still remains one of the top tweets today. Obviously 7 people were not shot and the shooter, who may or may not have been a white male, was absolutely not taken into custody "safe and sound". That was obvious at the time as the police reported on the scanner that the suspect was down after being engaged by the police. I reported this tweet to Twitter for misinformation but as of this posting nothing has happened.

There was a major contrast between Facebook and Twitter. The local crime reports page there had much better information than twitter and was not full of idiots calling for gun control or racists like the guy I posted above. People were either sharing information or sending thoughts and prayers and it was just a lot better than having to try and sift through the idiots on Twitter.

As for the shooting itself, the motive has not been released but it seems like a pretty typical disgruntled employee situation. It's either that or a personal beef between the shooters and the victims. I don't think there is much more to say about it beyond that. People have been going postal for a long time now and had this guy shown up at the victims houses instead of their place of employment this story would not have been such a big deal.

I do have to say that I am impressed by our local cops who ended this threat fairly quickly. The attacker was still a threat but the police were able to put him down quickly. They also had to evacuate the hotel and the casino, which is no small task. They did a good job here and should be praised for their good work.
