President Trump to send federal troops to DC, may invoke insurrection act to deploy troops to states.

President Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump says he will deploy federal troops to Washington D.C. to stop the riots and may invoke the insurrection act to deploy troops to the states if they do not activate their national guard. NBC News. The announcement comes after President Trump visited and held up a bible at St. John's Church, which was vandalized and burned last night. The insurrection act was written into law in 1807 and allows the deployment of troops and the federalization of the National Guard in order to stop an insurrection, rebellion and civil disorder. The act was last used during the Los Angeles riots in 1992.

My Comment:
It's clear from the video above that President Trump has had enough of these riots. The ones in Washington have been hugely destructive and violent and threatened the President directly. It's clear he's had enough and will do what he can to stop the riots.

It sounds as though Trump's plan is to flood DC with so many troops that the rioters are overwhelmed and can't actually cause any damage. That's the right call as even though President Trump has deployed federal agencies and the DC Mayor has called up the National Guard, the violence and arson have continued.

I think the burning of St. John's church was so over the line that it forced President Trump's hand. Burning that historic church was so far beyond the pale that something had to be done. Thankfully the church was saved, but the fact remains that these rioters are targeting historic monuments and have to be stopped.

Will President Trump invoke the insurrection act? It's possible. It's been clear that several governors are either unwilling or unable to stop these riots and it may be necessary to stop the riots by using the act. Doing so will be controversial but these riots have to end and end soon.

Our country cannot handle the economic damage these people are doing. We are already weak due to the Coronavirus and this is a critical time for small businesses that need to stay open if they are going to survive. Many of the businesses that get torched or looted will not be coming back so we need to limit the damage as soon as possible.

It's also clear that going after Antifa is the right move as well. Though there are a lot of opportunistic looters, they are unorganized and unmotivated. Antifa is the one that is organizing much of the violence and damage and stopping them will stop the violence. With them being declared a terror group, the President can go after their leadership and cut of their funding.

As for the riots themselves, it's been clear for several days now that it has nothing to do with the death of George Floyd. This is Antifa and other left wing groups trying to overthrow the government and it needs to be put down.
