George Bush denies claims that he isn't supporting President Trump in 2020

George Bush's camp has denied a New York Times report that Bush won't vote for President Trump in 2020. Fox News. Bush's spokesman, Freddy Ford, said that the claim was "completely made up" and that Bush hasn't indicated which way he will vote. Bush's brother and former primary foe of President Trump, Jeb Bush, has indicated that he hasn't decided but his son, the only Bush still in the government, George P. Bush, has endorsed Trump for 2020.

My Comment:
The New York Times report had made the rounds for a long time before the Bush camp corrected it and I think it's another example of how fake news happens. The Times used anonymous sources and it seems as though the reporters involved never bothered to call the man himself to actually confirm their story. And it turns out they got burned. My main reason to even cover this relatively minor story is the fact that you should not trust sources that rely on anonymous sources who are "familiar with [the person's] thinking".

Do I think Bush will vote for Trump? Probably not. There is bad blood between the two men because of the way Trump made his brother, Jeb Bush, into a laughing stock during the 2016 race. He didn't vote for Trump in 2016 and I'm not sure which way he will go in 2020. My guess is that he will stay home or maybe vote for Biden, but who knows? Either way, I doubt he will reveal who he will vote for publicly.

I also don't think it matters all that much regardless. Most people in the Republican party have turned on Bush and tend to have worse feelings for him compared to how they felt during his presidency and the Obama terms. Generally speaking, his neocon foreign policy is now widely recognized as a disaster and most neocons have been exiled from the party due to the failure of Iraq and Afghanistan. I personally think his Iraq war adventure was a huge black mark for his presidency and that, though better than Obama and Clinton, he wasn't that good of a President.

With all that being said, I do think that President Bush isn't likely to speak out against President Trump soon. He kept his mouth shut so far and he did the same thing during the Obama presidency. I kinda think that Bush doesn't think it's dignified to attack a sitting President so I doubt he will do anything unless President Trump makes him one of his targets, which he has little reason to do now.

I also don't think it matters too much that some of these old neocon politicians are coming out against President Trump. As I said before the neocon wing of the party is all but dead and people like Mitt Romney and Colin Powell are mostly hated and ignored.  Trump's approval rating in the party is above 90%, it's his more paleocon conservatives that are in control of the party now.
