President Donald Trump has commented on Vice President Pence's canceled trip to New Hampshire that has only deepened the speculation on what happened last Tuesday. USA Today. Pence had been en-route to a drug treatment facility for a speech but was called back for unknown reasons. Pence's top aid had said that the incident wasn't due to national security, health or family emergency. Trump commented today that there was a "very interesting problem" in New Hampshire and that the reason would be known in "a week or two". He also said the problem had nothing to do with the White House.

My Comment:
President Trump is being awful cagey about what happened in New Hampshire that caused the cancellation of this trip. So is Mike Pence and his staff who haven't said much. I am sure that events get canceled all the time but usually they tell us the reason why right away. But in this case we have been largely in the dark. This is somewhat unusual as the Trump administration is fairly open about what they are doing and they usually don't keep secrets about something like this.

People had speculated that it was due to the fire on the Russian submarine that killed 14 sailors or that either Pence or President Trump had had some kind of health emergency. Both of those are likely ruled out now. The fire wasn't really that important and Pence's staff specifically ruled out a health problem. And, of course, President Trump himself had a major appearance yesterday. It's possible someone is misleading us but it seems unlikely. Any other big health or foreign policy story would have likely broken by now.

Others have speculated that the incident might be political in nature. Many people believe that Mike Pence might not be Trump's running mate in 2020 and that this might have been Trump letting him go. That seems extremely unlikely now, and even before Trump's comments it was unlikely. I don't know if Pence will be VP again or not but regardless, Trump wouldn't get rid of him like that, and obviously Pence is still around.

President Trump however specifically mentioned the problem as being a local one. It makes me wonder if there wasn't some kind of criminal plot against Mike Pence. People have been going nuts about politics for quite some time and there have been some very serious incidents of violence. I hope I am wrong but I'm thinking something might have gone down if Mike Pence had given his speech. If so, this may have been a major incident that was averted. If that's the case I am thankful that VP Pence is safe.

Of course without more information all of this is speculation. We should hopefully find out the truth soon. To be fair it could be something completely mundane and uninteresting like some kind of technical or logistical snafu. If so, it might be a big disappointment because the media has built this up into quite a mystery. Either way, I thought it was worth a short post because I am stumped as well.
