France expands their war against Islamic militants in Africa. Yahoo/AP

A French soldier with Malian troops. Yahoo/AP

French troops continue their fight in Mali and redeploy troops in four other former French colonies. Yahoo/AP. In addition to the 1000 troops left in norther Mali, French troops will be redeployed in Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad. African civilians accuse France of neo-colonialism.

My Comment:
It's easy to forget about France's combat activities in Africa. I know the "cheese eating surrender monkeys" stereotype still exists in America at least, but in all truth the French are superior soldiers. There operations against Al-Qaeda inspired militants will continue and with any luck they will be successful.

The neo-colonialism accusation probably has some small truth to it but Al-Qaeda and Islamic extremism is a threat to French interests. And if they really were interested in gaining back their former colonies they would be sending many more troops then the token force they have there now.
