A robbery in California went bad 1 hostage and 2 suspects were killed. Yahoo/AP A third suspect is in custody and two other hostages were shot in a high speed chase. The robbers used AK-type rifles and had ammo strapped to their chests.
My Comment:
My sympathies to the victims here, terrible situation all around. It reminds me of the North Hollywood Shootout back in 1997 due to the weapons involved and the massive amount of fire exchanged. This is worse though because the only people to die in the robbery were the robbers. I am sure people will be pointing fingers at the cops but in this case I don't know what else they could do. That's about as terrible of a situation a United States police officer is likely to face. Fortunately, these kinds of robberies are rare. The criminals that did this were either crazy, politically motivated or desperate. Possibly all three. But it's probably way too soon to speculate.
It's too early to mention it but i am sure before the day is done the vultures in the media and politicians will be using this to push an agenda. This will be used in a new push for gun control in California, as it always is in these situations, but AK's are already illegal in California. Nothing would have prevented this other then the robbers not being terrible people.
