The Justice Department has announced the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Joe Biden's document scandal. Politico. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed US attorney Robert Hur to investigate classified documents found in two locations. The scandal erupted after documents were found at a Biden think tank, but exploded after documents were also found at his residence in Delaware. Biden says he is cooperating with the investigation. Since Biden is a sitting President, it is unlikely that he will be charged with any crimes.
Biden said the documents at his residence were located in his "locked garage" next to his corvette.
My Comment:
Wow, this scandal is blowing up. I personally don't think this is that big of a deal. Pretty much all Presidents and Vice President keep classified documents and it's only because the Justice Department is persecuting Donald Trump over the issue that Biden's actions are even being covered. But I really don't think this behavior is unusual.
Unfortunately for Biden he made the mistake of accusing Donald Trump of something he is incredibly guilty of himself. And unlike Donald Trump, Biden was not president at the time and was unable to declassify the items he took with a thought. Biden could actually be in trouble here.
Part of the reason this story is exploding is the utter hypocrisy on display here. Biden just raided Trump's home, Mar-a-Lago for doing the exact same thing that he is guilty of himself. The media tried to crucify Trump for keeping a letter from Kim Jong Un while Biden was doing the same thing. And unlike Trump, who kept the documents in his vault, Biden kept his in his garage.
Biden, and the media, had two choices. They could either admit that what Trump did was fine and not a big deal. That would be the sane thing to do, but they can't possible admit that Donald Trump was right about anything ever. That would destroy them. So instead they are saying that both Biden and Trump did things wrong and it's mostly a desperate attempt to get Trump.
I am starting to wonder if this isn't an effort to take down Biden. Biden has been pretty adamant that he wants to run in 2024, despite poor approval ratings, advanced age and many health problems. Biden was never the Democrats first choice and he was always a place holder for better candidates. Biden's refusal to give up his asperations may have gotten him in trouble with the deep state, who don't want another Trump presidency. This might be their way of getting Biden out of the picture.
Still, I have to be a bit incredulous that this could be the scandal that brings down Biden. It's not his failure in Afghanistan. It's not his complete failure on the economy. It's not the various other more serious scandals that Biden has had. It's not the fact that he's a creepy hair sniffer who was credibly accused of rape. It's none of that. It's because he had a couple documents at his office and garage.
