Vice President Mike Pence's Press Secretary Katie Miller has tested positive for the Coronavirus. CNBC. In addition to being the VP's Press Secretary, Miller is married to Senior adviser to President Trump, Stephen Miller. Miller said she was asymptomatic and she had tested negative earlier in the week but tested positive on Friday. Miller had been handling communications for the Coronavirus task force. President Trump's personal valet has also been diagnosed with the virus.

My Comment:
I'm slightly worried about both the Vice President and the President. Both of them had close contact with the people that tested positive and it's very possible they could have gotten infected. It seems like the contact was limited but it's still possible they could be infected.

Stephen Miller is also obviously at risk of catching the virus as well. He's married to Katie Miller and could catch it. The good news is that both of them are very young. Katie is only 25 and Stephen is 34, so neither of them are at high risk of a bad outcome from the disease. It's not even clear that Katie Miller is even showing symptoms. I think she and the valet, which we know a lot less about, will be fine.

The media is making a big deal out of the fact that neither President Trump or Vice President Pence wear masks. I'd like to remind everyone that masks are mostly there to protect other people not the wearers. They offer some level of protection but not that much and are much better used to stop people who cough and sneeze from spreading viral particles. If it were up to me I'd say they should be wearing them given their importance to the country, but I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I think the risk to both Trump and Pence is fairly low. They are getting tested a lot and so is everyone that works with them. Both Miller and the valet were tested and removed fairly quickly, so they didn't have much of a chance of spreading it.

However, I do worry about the virus spreading in the White House. We all remember what happened with Boris Johnson and the UK and such a thing happening here would not be good. Plus President Trump is in a higher risk group and if he catches the virus it could make him severely ill.

Of course the media is behaving responsibly as always. As I was researching this post I found an article from Jezebel, a feminist outlet, that openly called for Stephen Miller's death. It's always interesting to see the mask fall off...
