Took the night off to follow the UCC shooting story on twitter. Let's just say that was a mistake. People are only trying to spread their politics and use the attack as a weapon against people they hate. Right now there isn't enough information to go on, so no detailed post about it.
I'm not sure if I will be able to post about it tomorrow, and to be honest, there are more important things going on in the world right now then a shooting in Oregon. Russia joined the war in Syria, Afghanistan is heating up and there is a hurricane heading to the East Coast. All of these issues will effect many more lives then the shooting ever will. Hell, Syria alone has more casualties in a month then all the mass shootings in America combined.
Either way though, I was fairly disgusted with how social media handled this as well as our mainstream media. Apparently CNN relied on anonymous 4chan posters to accuse an innocent person of the crime. And everyone on twitter tried to peg the actual shooter as a member of a group they hated. Our president used it as an opportunity to call for the removal of our natural rights to own weapons and defend ourselves. Just once I would like to see one of these shootings go differently. Nobody should blame anyone or anything except the guy that did this.
