Major battles have broken out in Ilovaysk and the Luhansk Airport between Ukrainian forces and Russian backed rebels. -CNN. Ukraine is accusing Russia of using heavy tanks during their attack on Luhansk's airport while a patrol boat has been capsized of the coast of Mariupal. Russia urged Ukrainian forces to withdraw from civilian locations. Some in the United States are for arming the Ukrainian military. Ukrainian president President Poroshenko says the situation is moving closer to war.

My Comment:

The video above is raw footage from the fighting. It shows how intense the fighting is and how well armed the rebels are. In the video alone I saw anti-tank rockets, grenade launchers and some light armor. Like most actual combat footage it's confusing, but it should give you a good idea what it is like in Eastern Ukraine right now. I'm sure it is biased for the pro-Russian rebels though, so keep that in mind. I have no idea what anyone is saying either. 

As for the situation in Ukraine, it's totally out of control. The aid that Russia is giving the rebels has turned the tide. For awhile it looked like Ukraine was going to finally capture Donetsk and Luhansk but now they are in a full retreat. Not much is going to change that. The American Senator quoted in the article, Robert Menendez, is a fool if he thinks American weapons are going to help. Even if we could get the weapons there without risking a direct war with Russia, they wouldn't change the situation on the ground all that much. The Ukrainian forces are not only outgunned but outmatched and demoralized. They will have to end the war with a negotiated settlement.
