The Democrats's opposition file on Donald Trump has been hacked and posted.

The Democratic National Convention's opposition report on Donald Trump has been hacked and posted on the internet. NBC. The 200 page document shows what the Democrats plan against Donald Trump. The DNC confirmed that they were hacked by "Russians". Gawker and the Smoking Gun posted the information shortly after claiming it was leaked by someone known as "Guccifer 2.0". The hacker also posted more information on his wordpress blog, which can be found here. In addition to the opposition document, lists of Democratic donors, Hillary Clinton documents from when she worked at the State Department. and other documents were posted. The hacker claimed to have given more files to Wikileaks. For their part the DNC claims that they have more research available on Donald Trump, and that the opposition document is out of date.   

My Comment:

I haven't had a chance to read these documents. They are very long and I didn't have time to look over them in detail, so I won't talk much about what is in them. I would love to read all 200 pages of this report, but I just don't have the time. Most of it has been reveled before, either by Clinton attacking Trump or during the primaries. Not much of it is new, but it still a huge deal that this was leaked. 

The only thing that I saw that was really stupid is the idea that the Democrats would go back to the accusations that Ivana Trump made about Donald Trump. In the past she said that Trump "raped" her, in an emotional sense as they were going through their divorce. Trump was never charged with anything and Ivana publicly and repeatedly disavowed her comments. Indeed, she has endorsed Trump for president and has a good relationship with him now, which is not the action of someone who believes they were attacked. 

Not only is this line of attack stupid, it also will backfire. Unlike Ivana Trump, many of the women who accused Bill Clinton of misconduct, including the one that accused him of rape, still stand by what they said and some have even endorsed Trump for president. In short, it's not a weakness for Trump but a huge weakness for Hillary Clinton. If they really want to go there it is going to hurt them more then it will hurt Trump. 

The more important thing is that this document was leaked in the first place. I am not sure who this "Guccifer 2.0" is, but the first one, Guccifer was a famous Romanian hacker. He got extradited to the United States and claimed to have information off of Hillary Clinton's e-mail server. Though that was never proven, it's clear that this new hacker was able to get into the DNC's files.

People are accusing the Russians of doing this. I guess it is possible. They do have hackers and I am guessing they would rather have Donald Trump as president instead of Hillary Clinton. But I don't think this was a government hack job. It might have been someone who lives in Russia or spoofed an attack that made it look like he was from there. Either way, whoever did this had a motive to hurt the Democrats, and it looks like they have done so. 

Regardless of where the attack came from, this is a huge blow for the Democrats. Though their opposition file was probably updated, it still shows what their plans are for this election. This gives the Trump camp a huge advantage as they now know exactly how the Democrats were going to hit them. They can counter their plans and come up with arguments against what the Democrats are planning.

The Democrats will be scrambling to come up with new lines of attacks on Trump. I don't think there is all that much left they can dig up. The media has been hitting Trump 24/7 ever since he announced, there can't be that many secrets left. With there entire plan laid out for the whole world to see, they are going to have a very hard time recovering from this.
