ISIS says slavery is justified for Yazidi women. -CNN

ISIS has released a document that attempts to justify slavery of non-Muslim women. -CNN. ISIS believes enslaving women as concubines is in accordance with Sharia law as long as the women are "kuffar" (non-Muslim). The publication singled out Yazidi women as legitimate targets for sexual slavery. Hundreds of Yazidi have been enslaved or forced into marriages after being forced to convert to Islam. Human Rights Watch has confirmed that ISIS is doing this and have interviewed many victims.

My Comment:
Add this to the very long list of crimes by ISIS. Slavery has never really gone extinct in that part of the world, or anywhere for that matter, but it just seems hugely hypocritical of ISIS to do this. After all they are a movement founded in small part due to disgust at western "degeneracy" but holding women as sex slaves is about degenerate as you can get.

Whatever the supposed justification for these crimes, and I doubt this is mainstream Sharia law, I understand why they are doing it. Even though this is rape, having access to sex, even degenerate sex, is a morale booster for front line combat troops. "Comfort women" as a phenomenon isn't anything new and was a standard punishment for captured women and a very disturbing "perk" for soldiers throughout history. It's nothing new but it is obviously very wrong. Still, it will be a recruitment tool for ISIS. What happens if they win and their new state is full of rapists and degenerates? I don't think they have thought this through.

And what a horrible position to be in for these women. Being a rape victim is horrible enough, but to be attacked by an organization that is systematically destroying your people? That would be too much to bare for anyone. I'm confident that most of these women will be rescued at some point, but they are going to be damaged, that's for sure.

I also wonder if men aren't subject to the same treatment. I've heard a few rumors of men being sexually assaulted by ISIS militants but I have no idea if those are isolated incidents or if it is something that is systemic. If it is the second option then ISIS is even more hypocritical then I thought. Either way, the treatment ISIS has given both genders is terrible.
