I'm continuing to watch Hurricane Irma...

NOAA storm track for Hurricane Irma.

I'm continuing to monitor the path of Hurricane Irma. I know I said that I don't usually cover natural disasters like this, but this seems like one hell of a storm. We did not get lucky at all with the storms path. Though it does appear that the eye will not hit Miami directly, it does seem that the worst case scenario is coming to pass.

The storm looks like it is going to go right up the middle of Florida. That means that both coasts will be under threat. From what I have seen in media reports it looks like the west coast and the Florida Keys will be most at risk, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the state is safe. Irma is a huge storm and is still category 4. There is a small chance that it will even strengthen as it moves away from Cuba and back into the warm ocean waters. This is pretty much what everyone was fearing was going to happen...

This is the "big one" and I can only hope that people headed the advice of the government and evacuated. There isn't much time left to do so now, so let's hope people make it out.

Hurricane Irma will be a huge test for our president and for our country. We all did a good job with Hurricane Harvey. Trump and the federal government made sure resources were available, the state government  made sure to help in anyway they could and many normal Americans pitched in, either by volunteering or giving money, to help with the recovery.

We are all going to need to do that again. This storm is likely to be worse than Harvey and the people effected by it will need as much help as we can give them. It seems as though our president is on the ball but I wonder if resources won't be strained so soon after another major storm. I hope that these things work out, but all we can to at this point is wait...
