What is going on in North Korea? Sudden high level talks between North and South. CNN

High level talks between North and South Korea have begun while the countries "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-Un has been absent in public lately. -CNN. Three high ranking officials suddenly asked South Korea for permission to attend the Asian games and have an important meeting with South Korean officials. The dignitaries included Hwang Pyong-So, vice marshal of the army, Kim Yan-Gon, the diplomat in charge of North Korean/South Korean relations and Choe Ryong-Hae, former head of the military and secretary of the Worker's Party Central Committee. Such a high level meeting is almost unheard of. The meetings come as Kim Jong-Un has been absent from the public. It is reported that he is suffering from "discomfort" and was seen with a limp before he disappeared. People are speculating that Kim may no longer be in control.

My Comment:
I've been watching North Korea for some time now and this is unprecedented. I've never heard of such high level talks between the North and South. Could it be that there might be actual change in the relationships between the states? I guess it is possible. North Korea seems to have adopted a more conciliatory attitude as of late and their latest grabs for attention haven't really worked. Perhaps there will finally be peace in Korea.

As for Kim, I keep hearing rumors that he has been disposed. The CNN article touches on the possibility that he is just a figurehead these days but I've been hearing that he has been disposed in a coup. If that is true it could explain the new conciliatory attitude from North Korea. However, there really isn't proof at this point and the alternate explanation, that he is just sick with something, probably gout, makes just as much sense. It's definitely something to keep an eye on though.
