Obama's approval rating is falling even in California, a Democrat stronghold. -Christian Science Monitor.

Obama's approval rating has dropped to record low levels in many blue states, including California. Christian Science Monitor. The approval rating for Obama in California, a stronghold for Democrats, fell to 45 %, a very slight majority. 43% of Californians disprove of Obama's Job performance. Support for the president has fallen across the board, but until now he still had strong numbers in California.  Foreign policy challenges, such as the situation in Ukraine and Iraq have led to the widespread belief that Obama is either inattentive, or ineffective. Obama still has better numbers then Congress and the Republican Party.

My Comment:
Once again, I am surprised that they are as high as they are, even in a blue state like California. People just don't like to admit they were wrong and are defensive of their "team". Obama is clearly a president that does not handle foreign policy very well. The perception that he is inattentive is spot on. I've said it before but Obama's main concern has always been domestic. He wants to transform America in a fundamental way. He does not want to deal with Iraq or Russia. Of course everyone knew this from the start and elected him anyways.

I actually had a conversation with someone recently who was an Obama voter who was fairly upset at what was happening in Iraq. I told her "well this is what you voted for" though I did add that I don't think Romeny would be doing much better. 2012 was an election where foreign policy should have been front and center but domestic issues dominated and both parties put forth a candidate more suited for peace then war. But war has found us, like it or not. The situation with Russia is a return to the bad old days of the cold war and I'm convinced that that the battle against ISIS, Al-Qaeda and other radical Islamic groups is essentially World War III. Elections have consequences, and the consequence of voting in a domestic president in a time of global uncertainty and chaos is weakness in a time when we need strength. Hopefully the next president will have some more experience with how the real world works...

I won't get into how i think this will play out in the 2014 and 2016 elections. The fact is that I just don't know. The American voting public is a temperamental and finicky beast and it's very hard to predict what they will do. People might despise Obama but still vote for Democrats just because it is their "team".
