BREAKING NEWS: Airstrikes have begun in Iraq. -AP

The Pentagon is reporting that two F/A-18's have bombed an artillery piece and tow truck in Iraq. -AP The strike took place near Irbil and was to prevent U.S. advisers from coming under artillery fire.

My Comment:
So it begins. Not much else to say on this one other then it seems this will be a limited defensive campaign instead of an all out assault on ISIS. This was an air support strike, not an attack on ISIS leadership or troop concentrations. We will have to see how it plays out. I'll update the post if there are any more developments.

EDIT: CNN has a full article up. The video mentions about a dozen times that the main reason was the threat against U.S. personnel. The troops and the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters they were with could have came under artillery fire. Obama does NOT want to have any U.S. casualties so it's not surprising that he ordered this strike.
