Bill Clinton on 9/10/01 "I could have killed Bin Laden". -Washington Post

On 9/10/01, one day before the 9/11 terror attacks, Bill Clinton gave a speech where he said that he could have killed Osama Bin Laden. -Washington Post. The speech, given to Australian businessmen, was recently discovered. He claimed that in order to do so he would have had to destroy Kandahar and kill woman and children. He did not think that would have been morally justified. 

My Comment:

Odd timing on this recording coming out. Could it have something to do with his wife running for president? Maybe. I'm willing to give Clinton the benefit of the doubt here. At the time killing 300 people to get one (I wonder how he got those numbers?) was a bad deal. But if he had known that Bin Laden would be directly responsible for the 9/11 attacks and indirectly responsible for the complete disintegration of the Middle East, he might have changed his mind. Knowing what we know now, had I been the one to make the call, Bin Laden would be dead. Oh well, hindsight is, as they say, 20/20.
